Care tips
Keep your teak glowing for generations.
Solid teak asks very little. A few gentle habits keep the grain warm and the polish deep for decades.
Do
- Dust weekly with a soft, dry cotton cloth, following the grain.
- Wipe spills immediately with a slightly damp cloth, then dry.
- Use coasters under glasses and mats under hot dishes, lamps and vessels.
- Keep the mandir a little away from direct, all-day sunlight to protect the colour.
- Once or twice a year, apply a thin coat of teak oil or the wax we recommend.
- For a deeper clean, a mild soap solution on a damp cloth is all teak needs.
Avoid
- Harsh chemical cleaners, thinners or abrasive scrubbers.
- Standing water, and placing wet lamps or vessels directly on the wood.
- Dragging the piece across the floor — always lift to move it.
- Sudden swings in humidity: a damp wall, a consistently humid corner or a heater close by can crack or warp teak. Keep the room’s humidity steady.
Follow this gentle routine and your mandir looks its best for decades; the warranty does not cover damage from improper use or care. Unsure about a product? Ask us on WhatsApp before you use it.
Care by material
Caring for every piece you own
How do I care for teak wood furniture?
Oil or polish it occasionally to keep its lustre: teak oil or a high-quality furniture polish keeps the wood nourished. Clean it with a mild soap solution and a damp cloth, never harsh chemicals. Keep the room’s humidity steady, because extreme changes can crack or warp teak.
How do I care for upholstered furniture?
- Vacuum regularly with a soft brush attachment to remove dust without damaging the fabric.
- Spot-clean stains with a fabric cleaner or mild soap and water. Test it on a hidden area first.
- Rotate and flip cushions regularly so they wear evenly and keep their shape.
How do I care for metal and glass furniture?
- Use the right cleaner: glass cleaner on glass, a damp cloth with mild soap on metal. Avoid abrasive cleaners that scratch.
- Prevent rust: keep metal dry. If rust appears, treat it at once with a rust remover and repaint if needed.
How do I care for leather furniture?
- Wipe it with a damp cloth regularly; too much water can stain leather.
- Condition it every 6–12 months to keep it soft and supple.
- Keep it away from heat such as radiators and heaters, which dry out and crack leather.
How do I care for custom and antique pieces?
- Ask us first: custom and antique pieces may need specialised care. Write to us for instructions made for your piece.
- Handle them less: move antique pieces as little as possible to prevent wear.
- Restore, don’t replace: if a piece shows significant wear, professional restoration preserves its value and beauty.
