Jagadamba Pooja Mandap

This brown Jagadamba Teak Wood Mandap is a magnificent temple that rests on the floor and exhibits a daring traditional design with a robust and well-balanced structure. The top crown is very high and has a layered design with steps that carry intricate carving along the edges and well-arranged figurative motifs that add to the visual depth. The front frame is massive and strong with carved borders across the top beam of the two side pillars. Thick and deeply carved are both side pillars and each pillar has vertically aligned niche-style panels that contribute to the richness of the front elevation. The back panel is wide and simple which helps to keep the focus in the shrine space. The platform area is big and a little raised which makes an organized placement possible. The lower base has three broad storage panels of which the center panel is marked with a geometric sacred pattern while the side panels have carved bird motifs that keep up with the symmetry. The fine detailing also runs along the bottom skirting which gives the mandap a solid and complete finish. The natural wood grain is very much a part of the surface and the brown color is seen again on the lower and upper edges which gives the mandap its traditional and powerful presence.

Gently dust your teak furniture with a soft, dry cloth each week. Wipe it very lightly with a barely-damp cloth when needed and dry immediately. A thin coat of bees-wax or teak-oil polish twice a year will replenish the wood's natural oils. Keep the unit away from standing water, harsh chemicals and prolonged direct sunlight to preserve its colour and prevent warping.
